Seniors are 18 years of age and over.
Competitors must be members of an affiliated British Riding Club, OR a Pony Club member, OR a BHS Gold Member, or hold their own public liability insurance.

Equine ‘Flu Vaccination Records must comply with BRC Rules.
Back numbers are to be worn by all competitors. Please ensure that the correct number is worn.
Show Jumping – Classes will be run two phase. Riders achieving a clear round go straight into a timed second round (jump off). Riders with faults do not go on to the second round.
Anyone entered in the BRC Area 1 qualifier may NOT enter an open class (2A, 4A or 6A) at a lower height. Competitors may enter up to two consecutive classes.
For those entered in the BRC Qualifiers the Open classes will run after the qualifier classes. Classes will run in numerical order: 1 – 70 cm Team, 2 – 70 cm Individual, 2A – 70 cm Open, etc.

- Equine Passports – Riders must bring equine passports to the office on the day, when collecting number, where spot checks will be undertaken. NO equine ‘flu records will be checked in advance – it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the vaccination record is correct.
- Whips (Show Jumping) – See Rule G23.1.1 on use of whip. Also Appendix 5A – Whips:
One whip is permitted and must be between 45 cm and 75 cm and must not be weighted or feature a hard point at the end. The end of the whip must be padded. The ‘pad’ must be smooth with no protrusion or raised surface (which includes embroidery) and be made of a shock absorbing material throughout its circumference. No substitute for a whip may be carried.
- Personal Information: You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of events and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of qualification, insurance or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, club, times and age category.

COMPETITOR INFORMATION
All Classes will be in drawn order. Competition will start at approximately 9 am.
It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure their horse vaccination record meets BRC rules and that they are eligible for classes entered.
In the unlikely event of the event having to be cancelled, a percentage of the entry fee will be retained to cover admin and arena hire costs.
RESULTS AND PRIZEGIVINGS – Results will be on www.ridingclubresults.co.uk. Show Jumping prize-giving will be mounted.
OBJECTIONS – Protests or complaints may be lodged in writing and handed to the Event Secretary. The protest must be accompanied by a deposit of £20.00. They must be made no later than 30 minutes after the incident that gave rise to that protest, or 30 minutes after the results have been published. The deposit will be forfeited unless the protest is upheld, or it was decided there were good and reasonable grounds for lodging the protest.

STYLE JUMPING QUALIFIER RULES
Open to Seniors only (18 years old and over).
The course will have 8 to 12 obstacles, maximum 85 cm in height with a maximum spread of 90 cm, one of which should be a double. The optimum speed for this competition is set at 325 mpm. One penalty point will be deducted for every second over the optimum time.
Objectives
- To encourage better pace and rhythm in competitions and improved rider training in jumping competitions.
- To demonstrate the rider’s knowledge and effect of developing the canter at 325 metres per minute and its amenability for riding a course.
- That judges can provide good constructive comments for the benefit of the competitors.
The Test
The rules for the competition are set out in the BRC Official Rule Book (document available below). The signal to start is given and the course jumped, the rider is judged on how they ride the whole course, particular attention being given to how they ride the turns and present the horse at a fence. The course is completed when the horse passes through the finish. There is no need to salute the judge. The judge will award the following marks for the round:
- Equestrian feel and skill, ability to present the horse correctly at the fence and ride accurate lines. The ability to maintain a clear rhythm and correct pace. Ability to influence the horse correctly (30 points).
- Riders leg position, balance and ability to follow the horses movement over the fence. Security of the lower leg. Independence of the rein (20 points).
- Horse’s balance and rhythm. Desire to move forward, attention and confidence, harmony, lightness and ease of movement, acceptance of the bridle, calmness of the jump (30 points).
