This is the first Arena Eventing that Area 1 Liaison Committee has run. The venue at Totleywells was great, the team there could not have been more helpful.
The Indoor worked well as warmup with a max of 6 riders. We had a steward directing riders down from the lorry park in communication with the steward in the indoor. This way the warm up was never overloaded and riders knew when there were spaces.
The steward in the Indoor liaised with the Arena Steward so there was a regular flow of competitors to the fabulous outdoor arena.
We had use of the indoor viewing room (heated!) for Secretary and Volunteers. This was very welcome as the wind was a bit keen in the morning. Unfortunately the caterer booked to cover the event called off on Saturday evening. Fortunately Linda Allen was able to do a run to Tesco and we have plenty of sandwiches, crisps and water for the volunteers.
Car parking was tight but Keiron & Gemma from Totleywells did a great job of lorry jenga!
Overall feedback has been very positive and it is a venue where we would look to run training.
BHS Scotland came with the weighbridge, which was popular as a lot appreciated being able to get their horses weighed prior to the season.
All volunteers, committee members and officials were exemplary as usual.
Thanks to Linda Allen and Pat Bell for the great job with scoring.
